Launching a Scratch-and-Win Campaign
Welcome to the quick-start guide for creating your own Scratch-and-Win game campaign. Follow these simple steps to set up a complete, engaging campaign in under 20 minutes!
Step 1: Create a Game
The first step in your campaign is to design the Scratch-and-Win game. There are some default graphics, but you can customize the game to fit your needs:
- Go to the Games overview page and click the button 'NEW GAME'.
- Before you can customize your game, give the game a name and click 'SAVE'
- Go to game graphics, here you can upload a game logo & background image.
- Upload a scratch area image and a no prize image.
- Define the game’s background color, text color and button colors
- Customize signup and end actions (e.g., display a discount code or QR code).
Optional:
Choose a predefined theme like Halloween or Christmas to get up to speed faster.
Step 2: Create a Prizepool
A Prize Pool is a list that holds all the prizes for your game.
Go to the Prize pool overview page and click 'NEW PRIZE POOL'. Simply name your prizepool (e.g., “Halloween Prizes”) to create it.
Step 3: Add Prizes
Now, it’s time to define the prizes for your game:
- Select the prize pool you just created, then click 'ADD PRIZE'
- Give each prize a name (e.g., “Free coffee', "Mini Golf", “50% Discount”).
- Upload an image for the prize, which will be revealed when scratched.
- Set the quantity for each prize.
Step 4: Create a Playcode List
A Playcode List is a container for unique playcodes.
Go to the Playcode list overview page and click 'NEW PLAYCODE LIST'
Give the list a name (e.g. Halloween playcodes), and you’re ready for the next step.
Step 5: Generate Playcodes
Generate unique playcodes that players will enter during signup:
- Select the playcode list you just created
- Select how many playcodes you need. You can always create more later.
- Each playcode can only be used once by a player to participate.

Click the 'Distribute Prizes', a modal box will open.
Select the playcode list you created earlier from the dropdown.
Click the 'Distribute Prizes' button in the modal box to assign prizes to the selected playcodes in the list.
This ensures each player has a chance to win.
Step 7: Create the Campaign
Finally, set up your campaign by going to the Campaigns overview page.
Click the 'NEW CAMPAIGN' button and enter the following details:
- Campaign Name (e.g., "Holiday Scratch & Win").
- Friendly URL * must be unique (e.g., play.rarian.com/halloween).
- Choose the start and end dates.
- Select the game and playcode list for your campaign you created earlier.
Step 8: Download Playcodes & Distribute Them
Once you've generated your playcodes, it's time to distribute them to your players:
1. Download Playcodes
Go to the PlaycodeList Overview page and select the playcode list you've created for your campaign. Then, select .csv from the click the Export Playcodes dropdown and click the Download Icon to export the playcodes as a .CSV file. You can distribute these unique playcodes via:
- Email campaigns
- Printed materials
- Direct messages or any other preferred method
2. Campaign QR Code
On the Campaign Edit page, you'll find a downloadable QR code linked to the friendly URL you created for the campaign (e.g., https://play.rarian.com/halloween).
You can use this QR code to quickly direct players to your Scratch-and-Win page. Display it in-store, on social media, or in printed marketing materials for easy access.
Players can go to https://play.rarian.com/yourcampaignurl, enter their playcode, and scratch to win prizes.
That’s it! Your campaign is live.
